Ku-ring-gai Council is working hard to protect Ku-ring-gai’s Heritage Conservation through an Interim Heritage Order.
Thanks to the passing of Councillors Kim Wheatley (Wahroonga Ward), Simon Lennon (Gordon Ward) and Martin Smith’s (St Ives Ward) Notice of Motion (NM4) at the Ku-ring-gai Council meeting of 16 July 2024 Ku-ring-gai Council will now proceed with an Interim Heritage Area for Ku-ring-gai’s 23 heritage conservation areas.
The NSW Government’s Transit Oriented Development SEPP has placed 23 Ku-ring-gai heritage conservation areas at risk – all located within 400 metres of Gordon, Killara, Lindfield and Roseville stations. They represent HALF the total identified heritage conservation areas in Ku-ring-gai.
These core areas of fine historic houses and gardens embody the identity and living history of Ku-ring-gai (and parts of the identity and living history of all Sydney) that, if lost, cannot be replaced.
