Ku-ring-gai in Biodiversity Danger

Climate change is being turbocharged by habitat destruction.

Ku-ring-gai is facing its biggest habitat destruction – with the NSW Government’s Transport Oriented Development (TODs). There is a real threat that the intensity of densification proposed will push Ku-ring-gai’s natural environment to the brink of ecological collapse.

In 2025 there will be a Federal election. Australia’s main national environment law – the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999 is failing to protect Australia’s wildlife, landscapes and ecosystems. This includes Greater Sydney’s urban environment that is under intense pressure.

The EPBC Act is failing to protect Ku-ring-gai’s Blue Gum High Forest and Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forests and Duffy’s Forest. Habitat is being lost for the Powerful Owl and the Flying Fox. Invasive species are choking our national parks>

Federal Governments need to ensure accountability by state governments – including the NSW Government. They need to have the power to enforce rouge state government who do not demonstrate good environmental management.
