Ku-ring-gai Council’s legal action against the NSW Government’s Transport Oriented Development (TOD) is more important than ever, particularly given the recent release of the Productivity & Equality Commission’s report Review of Housing Supply Challenges and Policy Options for NSW.
Many of the recommendations would be detrimental to Ku-ring-gai including:
- expanding the TOD program in Sydney’s north
- extending the TOD to 800 metres from a railway station
- adding extra floors to ensure financial feasibility for developers
- relaxing requirements for car parking, solar access and minimum apartment size requirements
- fast tracking developments
- removing other barriers to increase density in Sydney’s north
- significantly increasing TOD height limits
This is why the new Ku-ring-gai Council must continue its legal action against the TOD.
The Ku-ring-gai Councillors who SUPPORT the legal action are:
- Cr Matthew Devlin
- Cr Barbara Ward
- Cr Martin Smith
- Cr Sam Ngai
- Cr Alec Taylor
- Deputy Mayor Cr Kim Wheatley

The Ku-ring-gai Councillors who DO NOT SUPPORT the legal action are:

This is why the new Ku-ring-gai Council must continue its legal action against the TOD.
NSW Productivity Commissioner Peter Achterstraat has made 32 recommendations to the NSW Labor Government on which ‘barriers’ should be removed to increase density.
FOKE is expecting that the Minns Government will announce higher density targets soon.
This is why Ku-ring-gai Councillors must continue Ku-ring-gai Council’s legal action against the NSW Government.
The Productivity Commissioner Peter Achterstraat has said, “If we don’t act, we could become a city with no grandchildren”. FOKE’s reply to this is “If we don’t stop the one size fails all TODs we will become a city where people will not want their grandchildrenn to live in such an unliveable city”.
Yet it appears Premier Minns is determined to destroy Ku-ring-gai heritage and environment as well as suburbs across Greater Sydney.
